Horrible company!

This is the worst company I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. They have had my camera back and forth twice with no repair done, I can't even get a straight answer from them as to where my camera is now. I was told by a supervisor named Nagarsh that my camera was on it's way back to me and nothing was wrong with it. That is a lie, as I contacted the company they farmed my camera out to and they told me the camera was shipped to Nikon because they couldn't fix it.

Bottom line: all of these "protection" plans are scams. Best to just refuse to be swindled when purchasing something.

SquareTrade - Don’t waste your money
My plan for my laptop specifically stated it covered accidental drops. As the result of an accidental drop, my claim was denied . They claimed standard coverage doesn’t cover accidental drops (then they shouldn’t have put that in as what it covered). Moreover, this is the second time they ripped me off. They offered insurance on some high end reading glasses but then refused to pay because they broke when they accidentally dropped off my head. Total and absolute waste of money. Allstate will never in life ever get any of my business. Just a bunch of crooks!

Horrible experiences... they find any reason not to give you your money back... on top of that the customer has to keep following up when they don’t receive the check and then it’s.... o we need this. Well that would have been great to know back when I had sent the information... not when I haven’t received a check two weeks later and I call to see what the *** is up. Freaking ridiculous

HP Pavilion Laptop Computer

I purchased an HP Pavilion laptop computer a couple of years ago from Costco. Currently, I am experiencing intermittent speaker problems where the volume is going in and out or is so low that you cannot make out what's being said. Upon running a diagnostic check on the laptop, It verified that the speaker part is generic and that was the problematic area that the diagnostic detected. I was never made aware that my HP laptop was built with generic parts. My boyfriend was able to reinstate the sound through the settings of my laptop, however I am concerned that eventually, I will encounter the exact same symptoms. How is Square Trade able to assist in this matter, as I am an enrolled college student and all classes are online, which requires me to hear what's being discussed? And secondly, shouldn't your customers be made aware of your products being built with generic or refurbished parts?

WARNING for others I’m very disappointed in Sqare Trade Walmart’s So Called Protection plan . I paid for the 3 year Protection Plan when purchasing my 55inch smart TV ...

Not quite sure what happened but got up one morning and colored lines were going through it . . It’s only 4 months old . I called to file a claim and they said it wasn’t covered due to me dusting my tv off with a paper towels and windex.

Even though there plan states on the little folder you get when they sell you the plan it’s covered . I was livid never again will I purchase that useless So called Protection Plan...

Here’s a picture of the little folder what would you all think when purchasing a Protection plan and only shown this folder... It clearly states spills and liquid damage

I agree. Walmart's protection plans are garbage. Why can't we just return said item after Square Trade approves your claim and get another same TV or refund???

Same experience. SquareTrade warranty is a ripoff.

They are the worst. We need to let everyone know.

Theresa D Gox

SquareTrade did this to me too. TV was less than a month old; I pushed something against it and broke the screen.

However, having faithfully purchased squaretrade warranties in the past, I called & submitted a claim. After repeated calls to them the claim was denied. Even though the warranty expressly says "screen damage" is covered. Look way, way back, to the back of the warranty (maybe the 21st page?) and it refers to not covering manufacturer defects.

What?? Sure enough SquareTrade said it was manufacturing defect. Manufacturer said it wasn't.

Guess what? No TV.

Analie Ejj

These people at square Trade are straight up thieves. How the government allows this is beyond me.

I feel as if they are above the government, cause the BBB says they have an A+ rating, yet there are so many complaints and lawsuits against them. Just think, their cheapest warranty costs consumers around $3 each....every millionth sale theyve pocketed all $3 million legally. Im ashamed of even having to write this, I've never looked this dumb in my existence.

I feel like standing in front of the store I made my purchase at, with a sign saying DO NOT purchase the extended warranty, cause its flat out theft. I'm sure I'd be arrested for that though.

You told them dusting off the tv off with a paper towels and windex? You don't know their questions are in seeking reasons to deny coverage?

Ya found out the hard way. Well, no problem. Just find a pile of cash and hire an attorney.

They know that. You should as well

Guest

Having the same issue. I was told my warranty for my Fitbit was only covered for mechanical issues and if I wanted accidental coverage I needed to purchase an additional warranty.

Now I wonder if the warranty I purchased with the kids fitbit is with square trade? I'm gonna take a look.

I also purchased a 65 inch tv from Sam's Club with the Square Trade policy. I called numerous times for help from the CSRs to no avail.

They claimed there was nothing wrong with the tv but my reception.

They refused to send a repair person out to my home. Rip off.

This company makes you jump through more hoops in hopes that you don't file a claim. Your customer service sent me to a repair shop that no longer repairs phones and now you want me to go to a shop and pay out-of-pocket after I've already paid the deductible. This is not acceptable. You offer NO avenue to speak with upper management and continue to give the run around to me the customer. I have contacted my attorney and will be moving forward with a lawsuit for the cost of repair, legal fees, and pain and suffering

BEWARE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am not sure what happened to SquareTrade but they are NOT the company they used to be. I buy warranties on almost everything, so I have quite a few with them, unfortunately. They absolutely used to be the best if I ever had a problem. Last summer an expandable garden hose that was quite pricey (for a hose)sprung a leak. I had been given the opportunity to "insure" it so I did. Square Trade did everything they could to NOT cover this item. I had to restart the claim multiple times. I had to send multiple pictures, over and over. Basically, if I was just not so stubborn, anyone else would have given up and I think that is their business model, so beware of that. Keep watching your claim and keep sending in what they ask for, but be prepared to do it OVER and OVER. I buy a product not to have a claim but if I have one, I do not want to have to spend literally days if not weeks handling it. We have had issues with two other items but I finally found myself NOT even bothering to make a claim......yes, I said it....I gave in. I did not even realize! One was an Amazon Show that turns off by itself. I didn't even realize I was avoiding going to SquareTrade due to time because of how awful they had been with the hose, I just didn't bother with the Show. I now am not insuring gifts like I used to either because I do not want other people to have to jump through these hoops. BUT here is why I am writing today. My husband has a Samsung phone we made the mistake of insuring through SquareTrade. He has a cracked screen. At one point we were paying our carrier and SquareTrade for insurance not realizing we were double insured. We called our carrier and they were kind enough to go back since we could prove we had this coverage. All things considered, it was supposed to be Apples to Apples and a good policy. NOT SO MUCH! Each time I call about this phone I get a different answer as to what our coverage is and what our deductible is. My carrier even tried to help me out because I was finally going to buy a new phone and cancel the coverage to just end the madness after paying for a year and a half!!!. On the website it states, "A $25 deductible may apply when a certified tech replaces your broken screen." They want to charge me $149.00 one day and $129.00 the next but no one can tell me who gets to pay the $25.00 deductible for a screen. There is far more to that statement on the website and it is very misleading. All they would tell me is that is not something I purchased. I asked who purchased it and how is it purchased and was told, not me! Funny enough, SquareTrade already has one Class Action lawsuit for deceptive practices and I am not sure they learned a thing from that. I asked to speak to their Executive Resolution Team and was told ok. I was given another number and lol, it was another call center Is anyone surprised? I can't buy certain items without warranties, it is just not me. However, companies need to be held responsible for not only being clear about what they are selling but honoring what they sell. Make sure you follow through with them and keep your eye on anything you submit! If at all possible, go with another company. Since they are taking over the market this may be impossible, but my hope is the more people that hold them accountable the more they may stop some of these practices!

It must be an interesting life attempting to avoid all major and minor inconveniences by purchasing warranties for everything. Cost is no object!

Protect me from all eventualities and problems, please. Here is my money. I trust you to protect me.

Personal responsibility? Me?

Theresa Cmt
reply icon Replying to comment of Machele Imf

I see you too understand the meaning of "insurance!" The very idea of something to "protect me," so that I may put my mind at ease and expect it to actually work when or if I need it....what a concept. If that makes me entitled, title me, or "entitle" me.

I call it responsible. You carry life insurance if you are lucky. You carry house insurance if you are blessed. You carry car insurance if you are legal.

You carry other insurance if you are smart...... If being prepared is placing my "personal responsibility" on someone else, shame on you for shaming me. Everyone should cover themselves to the point that they feel safe within their own lives and financial responsibilities. Whether I want to consume the loss of an object or the loss of many policies I may not use is my call, not for anyone else to question.

Your response is odd at best unless you work for the company or a company. I worked in the Insurance Industry for many years and what I got out of that Industry is always cover yourself.

You can never have too much insurance, but what you can have is a bad company that makes you jump through hoops to pay if anything goes wrong. The moral of the story is shop insurance just as much as products!

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WARRANTY!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased this for a TCL TV. After 1 year the coax/antenna connection fell out of the back of the TV. It appears the "stress" of an antenna connection broke the connection to the board. Square Trade denied this claim (probably a simple solder fix) since it was considered "physical, accidental damage." All they were willing to do was refund the policy purchase amount. I will NEVER use Square Trade or Allstate insurance based on their practices of finding any excuse to not honor their product warranty.Warr

Worst Warranty Experience Ever!!

Worst Warranty Experience Ever!! Purchased an Uber Scoot 1600 watt scooter for my son at wallmart for $685 for scooter $77 for Square trade warranty and $60 tax Total $822. Scooter developed electric issues it would take off when the key was turned very dangerous situation contacted Square trade to get the item fixed under the warranty after many calls and several supervisors I finally got my repair approved now comes the funny part. When I asked where I should bring it for repair they said sir we don`t provide that information you will have to find a repair shop on your own wow I did not expect that response but as my only option I started calling repair shops in my area Southern California with very little luck. The 1st shop California electric in Costa Mesa tried for 2 months to get parts for the scooter and then finally called me to say pick up the scooter we can`t get the manufacture to respond ( the scooter is made in china and distributed from a company in England) and charged me $45, shop #2 was a scooter shop that told me to bring it in and after 2 days called me to pick it up saying thay don`t know where to get parts no charge for this shop only my time and effort lugging a 120 lb scooter around town. Shop #3 AAA Electric in Tustin ca where the scooter has been for 6 weeks also called me as said he had no luck with finding any parts or a repair resource for this scooter he was nice enough to not charge me after I told him my story. Calling Square trade was so frustrating every time I called even though I spoke with many many people including 2 supervisors I would have to start my story over again from the beginning always promising a call back within 24 - 48 hours which did not happen I constantly had to call back to check on any progress when I asked for the supervisor that I had spoken to and had all of my info i was told " he`s off for 3 days" or "She`s not available" I spoke with supervisors Jamal, Whitney, customer service rep Kishema who spoke with manager Orville. After almost 9 months of dealing with these electrical issues manager Orville finally came to the only resolution for my claim # 0592******** they could offer and that was to ship this 120 lb (160lbs including the 45 lb shipping crate needed for this Scooter) Fedex 3000 miles from Southern California to Willamsville New York and then back again Shipping estimate $660 each way and $135 for the shipping crate which they will pay for That`s $2270 without the repair and parts cost for a 1 year old $660 scooter no wonder with this kind of decision making my experience was so bad. I will also share this experience with wallmart corporate to let then know how their customers are being treated, I told Square trade if you can`t fix an item DON`T OFFER A WARRANTY ON THAT ITEM it makes no sense. At this point i`m going to contact Square Trade corporate offices in San Fransisco In asked service rep Kishema if there is a time limit on the repair she told me if after 15 days there is no resolution we would look into other options and she was not even sure which shop it would go to or if that shop can even get parts which to me seems very open ended. It could literally be months before I get the scooter back making it close to a year my son 16 year old is without his scooter which he was using to go to and from high school without the scooter I have to drive him daily and make arrangements for him to get home the approx 5 miles from High school. I hope this reviews helps shed some light on others potential experience with Square trade and will do a follow up review if I hear back from Square trade or wallmart corporate offices. Ed
