SquareTrade is not honoring its protection plan
I purchased a phone from woot, and from woot page itself, I added additional warranty on the phone which was provided by SquareTrade. A few days ago, for whatever reason the popular issue where the screen starts to separate from the body started to happen.
I have been using Otterbox Defender series all around this phone. This phone hasnt been dropped or been exposed to water. In their protection plan they mention in point A.i.7 that they will cover material/workmanship issues. When I talked to the representative they clearly said that they will not honor it.
And that a supervisor will call you.
They offered to cancel the policy for full amount. My conclusion now is that they are running a scam, where they will collect money if they dont have to provide service, but if someone files a claim they will not honor their agreement.

Scam or not which is it
i bought a Samsung galaxy nx camera with a square trade warranty. my camera got destroyed in a car accident.
i file a claim on 3/17/2017. they sent me an email afterwards asking me to send them receipt of the item that i bought, which i had sent to them already. so i had to look for it then resend it to them with also the copy of the receipt of my square trade warranty. they failed thinking that i wouldn't have found the receipt after a year and a few months from my purchase.
after that i get an email saying that they receive information requested someone will take a look a the claim and email me back. got an email a few hours later saying that i need to send the camera to them for repair . i spoke to someone name shaw on march 31 of 2017 and asked him if its necessary to send the camera because its actually destroyed so it would be irreparable. he put me on a hold then got back to me said its not necessary to send it just reply to this email that I'm going to send you with a picture of the crushed camera.
then to reconfirm with him i ask him do you still want me to send the camera or just the picture. shaw's answer was just the camera. ok done it took a picture sent it to them and dispose of my debris. then online it said that my claim is approve and Your item will be repaired within the next 5 business days and sent back to you.
In the rare case where we do not have parts in stock, the repair may take longer. We will update you either way. Shipping time is generally 1-2 business days. We'll send it to your address on file.
i found it weird that they said that they were going to repair but anyways a few days later i called them back on april 4 of 2017 and their reply was I'm sorry sir what the other person told you is a lie and is not correct you have to send the camera or else we can't do anything for you. really after all that they still won the fight exactly what they want from what it seems like. get the money from buying the warranty and do your best so any claim that comes in the door to be stop from being resolve. I'm currently looking for any legal possible ways to get back to them but seriously what kind of customer service is this.
i even tried a step further and ask to speak to a manager the managers answer was regardless of what the other representative told you, you should read your contract and the contract says that you have to send us the item. i can't help you all i can do is cancel your policy and refund you a prorated amount. unbelievable,........ then at the end of the conversation he goes ahead and say ok sir I'm going to cancel the policy for you right now.
i had to tell him no i did not ask to cancel my policy. again unbelievable. crazy how i listen to your own representative which mean someone that represents your company (sqauretrade ) tells me not to send anything after confirming again do you still need me to send you the camera no you do not need to was the answer by your representative.
then online my claim says that its approve. after all that my result was too bad we can't do anything for you.

STAY AWAY FROM SQUARE TRADE, THEY ARE LIARS AND IDIOTS.
I bought a visio TV 3 years ago. with that, I bought square trades warranty.
the TV broke. I called and and emailed them multiple times. (of course had to email them pictures about 3 different times) the first guy I emailed said he will reimburse me within 2 days. that never happened.
Thereafter, I made multiple calls, and they kept dragging their feet on it. the last email I received was to give me a choice of 3 cheaper TV's. I told them no, that would mean I would have to wait another 2 weeks for delivery. (so far it has been over month waiting to get this resolved.
I am still in the process of trying to resolve this. also I don't want a TV sight unseen. last year I had a pressure cooker that I bought a warranty from, they refused to replace or fix it. they just sent me the 19.00 for the warranty.
my advice is to NEVER buy from anything at a store that has square trade. they are rips off and liars. I bought both items at sams club.
never again. lesson learned the hard way.
- Poor customer service
Very good
Money back
Classical scam.!!!
SQUARE TRADE IS FRAUD
I purchased a NEW tablet for my son last year on Ebay. I also at the time purchased a 2 year Square Trade warranty for this tablet as my son is a teenager.
When I viewed the ad on Ebay for the warranty, it stated all about the warranty. When I clicked on the details it said it covers accidental Damage as long as this was purchased at the time the item was purchased. My son dropped the tablet and the screen was damaged. I started a claim on the Square Trade site and it was denied.
I spoke to them on the phone and was told the plan I purchased did not cover accidental damage. Now on Ebay if you are offered a plan they have 2 options, one at double the price is Accidental Damage. But when I view my receipt from PayPal it does not give me 2 options. I had no reason to believe I was NOT purchasing a plan that covers Accidental Damage.
When speaking to Square Trade I was told by BOTH the Representative & the Supervisor that to purchase a plan that did not cover accidents was useless. There is a part in their Ebay ad "Important Things To Know" you would think that listing that this coverage you are about to purchase DOES NOT cover accidents would be a good thing to ad. They have sold over 9000 of these USELESS Plans on Ebay in the last year.
Nice income for a USELESS PRODUCT. They listed these like this for a reason and in proof that they knew what they were doing, one of the first things they offered me was a refund for my purchase.
Very good
This is not a very personal response

Write a letter or call the store who sold you the Square Trade Warranty. They are usually helpful.
They should be aware of how bad apples like Square Trade reflect poorly for their store. If they get enough complaints they will drop them as a vendor in their stores & on-line.
I'm filing a complaint with the BBB, Federal Trade Commission and state Attorney General. Enough complaints regulatory agencies will begin to take notice.
I will likely take them to court.
IF you have a contract they can not unilaterally cancel the contract just to avoid pay out. Keep all your e-mails and notes.
